Jak tworzyć przestrzenie, które nie tylko zachwycają formą, ale przede wszystkim poruszają wszystkie zmysły i opowiadają historie o pięknie, designie, świetle i emocjach? Właśnie to pytanie zdaje się być sercem filozofii biura Migliore+Servetto, jednego z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych studiów projektowych w Mediolanie, które od lat łączy architekturę, design i komunikację przestrzenną w niezwykle spójny sposób.
Kiedy we wrześniu wraz z naszą grupą polskich architektów przekroczyliśmy próg studia, przywitała nas Chiara, która wprowadziła nas w świat projektów studia. Prawdziwa magia rozpoczęła się w momencie, gdy do sali wszedł sam Ico Migliore, współzałożyciel biura. Ico jest niezwykle fascynującą osobą, więc ożywiona dyskusja naszej grupy z nim wyszła bardzo naturalnie. Z niezwykłą pasją opowiadał nam o filozofii pracowni, podkreślając, że dla Migliore+Servetto to przede wszystkim innowacja i piękno są językiem komunikacji.

Studio Migliore + Servetto, założone zostało przez Ico Migliore i Marę Servetto. Od ponad 25 lat tworzą projekty, które łączą architekturę, design, światło i narrację. Specjalizują się w projektowaniu muzeów, przestrzeni wystawienniczych, instytucji kultury oraz sklepów, gdzie każdy element jest przemyślany, by wzbogacić doświadczenie odbiorcy. Migliore Servetto ma na koncie ponad 800 realizacji w 21 krajach i zdobyło liczne międzynarodowe nagrody, w tym trzy Compassi d’Oro ADI, kilkanaście Red Dot, dwa German Design Awards, oraz FX Interior Design Awards i International Design Awards.
Wśród najważniejszych projektów biura są m.in. aranżacje dla ADI Design Museum w Mediolanie, Muzeum Egipskiego w Turynie oraz wiele innych prestiżowych instytucji kultury na świecie.
Słyną z innowacyjnego podejścia do światła, które traktuje jak aktora prowadzącego gości przez przestrzeń. Dzięki temu ich realizacje są pełne dynamiki i głębi, a przestrzenie stają się żywymi opowieściami.

Kultura, sztuka i…architektura!
Nie jest wcale tak łatwo zaaranżować przestrzenie instytucji kultury tak, aby były przejrzyste i łatwe w odbiorze dla zwiedzających, a jednocześnie ciekawe i podkreślające – oczywiście – daną wystawę czy dzieło sztuki. Z ich bogatego dorobku i doświadczenia powstało bardzo ciekawe studium – książka z konceptem biura Migliore+Servetti o tzw. “muzeum Seed”. Pokazuje jak biuro wyobraża sobie muzea przyszłości, dynamiczne i otwarte na wymianę i budowanie wspólnot. Książka prezentuje głosy licznych ekspertów: kuratorów, architektów, historyków sztuki, którzy dzielą się refleksjami nad przyszłością przestrzeni kultury.

Polski akcent
Muzeum jest rezultatem międzynarodowego konkursu na opracowanie koncepcji i realizację projektu ekspozycji stałej Muzeum Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie. Studio Migliore+Servetto Architects zdobyło w 2008 roku pierwszą nagrodę, pokonując 32 międzynarodowe biura architektoniczne. Projekt został opracowany jako „muzeum otwarte”, złożone z różnych ścieżek tematycznych, które odwiedzający mogą samodzielnie wybierać. Zwiedzający może swobodnie odkrywać twórczą drogę Chopina jako kompozytora i pianisty, otrzymując jednocześnie wskazówki prowadzące przez najważniejsze miejsca i wydarzenia jego życia.

Architektura i odpowiedzialność społeczna
Jedną z ciekawszych realizacji biura jest siedziba fundacji The Human Safety Net (THSN), mieszcząca się w historycznych Procuratie Vecchie na Placu św. Marka w Wenecji. Stworzono wystawę, przestrzenie i grafiki, które zachęcają do refleksji o inkluzywności i dostępności dla wszystkich. Aranżacja jednak nie rezygnuje z głębokich weneckich korzeni, podkreśla monumentalny układ architektoniczny i wykorzystuje weneckie materiały: szkło, miedź, drewno i lustra.

The Future is Experience – Migliore+Servetto’s Vision

How can we create spaces that not only impress with their form but also engage all the senses and tell stories about beauty, design, light, and emotions? This question seems to lie at the heart of the philosophy of Migliore+Servetto, one of Milan’s most renowned design studios, which for years has seamlessly combined architecture, design, and spatial communication.
When, in September, our group of Polish architects crossed the studio’s threshold, we were welcomed by Chiara, who introduced us to the studio’s world of projects. The real magic began when Ico Migliore, the co-founder of the studio, entered the room. Ico is an incredibly fascinating person, and our group’s lively discussion with him unfolded naturally. With great passion, he spoke about the studio’s philosophy, emphasizing that for Migliore+Servetto, innovation and beauty are foremost a language of communication.
About the Studio
Migliore+Servetto, founded by Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, has for over 25 years been creating projects that combine architecture, design, light, and narrative, producing spaces full of emotion and storytelling. Their works are not just buildings or exhibitions – they are spatial narratives that engage the senses and the mind. The studio specializes in designing museums, exhibition spaces, cultural institutions, and retail spaces, where every element is carefully considered to enrich the visitor’s experience.
The studio is renowned for its innovative approach to lighting, treating it as an actor guiding visitors through the space. This makes their projects dynamic and layered, turning spaces into living stories. Among their most notable works are installations for the ADI Design Museum in Milan, the Egyptian Museum in Turin, and other prestigious cultural institutions worldwide.
Museums & Cultural institutions
The studio has completed over 800 projects in 21 countries and has received numerous international awards, including three Compassi d’Oro ADI, several Red Dot Awards, two German Design Awards, as well as FX Interior Design Awards and International Design Awards. From their extensive experience, they developed an intriguing study – a book presenting the concept of the so-called “Seed Museum.” It illustrates how the studio envisions museums of the future: dynamic, open to exchange, and fostering community. The book features insights from numerous experts, including curators, architects, and art historians, reflecting on the future of cultural spaces
Polish Connection
The museum is the result of an international competition for the concept and realization of the permanent exhibition of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw. In 2008, Migliore+Servetto Architects won first prize, surpassing 32 international architectural studios. The project was conceived as an “open museum”, composed of various thematic paths that visitors can choose freely. This allows them to explore Chopin’s creative journey as a composer and pianist, while being guided through the most important places and events of his life.
Architecture and Social Responsibility
One of the studio’s most remarkable projects is the headquarters of The Human Safety Net (THSN) Foundation, located in the historic Procuratie Vecchie on St. Mark’s Square in Venice. The architects created exhibitions, spaces, and graphics that encourage reflection on inclusivity and accessibility for all. At the same time, the design remains deeply rooted in Venetian tradition, emphasizing the building’s monumental architectural layout and incorporating characteristic local materials such as glass, copper, wood, and mirrors.
